Hey Ladies, Just wanted your opinion on a league night or possibly a Disc Clinic for next season? Who would be interested in teaching or getting together for a night each week next summer to start a league?

Hey! I would love to come to Calgary and host a Women's Clinic for the AB Girlz! I have run many clinics over the past 4 years for the City of Kamloops as well as the KDGC. Tracy Andersen and myself also have been hosting Ladies Night with mini learning clinics for the past 3 years. I created a booklet/learning manual to help women learn more of what is taught at the clinic. I also participated in Des Reading's clinic this past May and learned a lot of valuable information. The timing would have to be right...possibly Craig and I could come to Calgary in the Spring for a visit, disc golf and of course the clinic. Let me know if you are interested. Maybe it could happen in conjunction with the AB Open? Depends on the date, as we have tentative holidays planned for the summer! If you start up a Ladies League, let me know and I will hook you up with the Innova Women's Rep. She loves to send out free shwag for the ladies! ccneal@telus.net PS...Way to go Jess! You ROCK

Hey Amanda!
Sorry...thought it was Jess getting things going! Way to step up and get things going for the ladies!
We went through a lot of growing pains when getting a Ladies Night started. The first thing we found was that score cards, handicaps and things like that scare newbies away! They are mostly looking for some fun without a lot of extras.
Some women will want to keep score and will have that competitive edge, but the majority will be overwhelmed by the rules and learning the technique so adding the pressure of keeping score will keep them away the next time.
Innova was amazing, giving us free plastic to hand out to the women. It allows you to have something for first time players. They appreciate it and will tend to want to come again!
Finding and evening that works might be difficult. You could try having the girls meet on a night that the guys meet for doubles or league. They can go to the course with their significant other, but play with the ladies! Then, just have lots of positive feed back and tips to give to the new players and things will start to happen.
Hope that helps!
Carrie
PS weather always plays a HUGE factor...99% of newbies are "fairweather" players. You will probably have better luck in the spring/summer!

Hey Carrie, thanks for the reply. I haven't had time to investigate the option of a womens league night/clinic but i appreciate all your advice.
It would be awesome if you came down for clinic kick off. We could start the week before the park 96 Solstice so you can come for both!!
I'll let you know what becomes of all this in the future. Thanks Again

Hi!
I have dropped off the face of the earth for the past month, but wanted to let you know I did get your e-mail. However, my e-mail program decided it was going to mess everything up, for the third time, and I lost everything!
I'm pretty sure that Craig and I are coming to Calgary for Solstice. It just depends on time off work and if someone can watch our daughter!
Send me an e-mail and I will send you some clinic info!
Cheers
Carrie
